Our Top Five Books of 2020

Here are five of our favorite books we read this year. If you are looking for something to read, we highly recommend these!

1. Slow Church: Cultivating Community in the Patient Way of Jesus

A fantastic critique of the consumeristic/fast-food culture of the modern church and an appeal to a discipleship process that is antithetical to our desire for instant results.

2. Permission to Feel: Unlocking the Power of Emotions to Help Our kids, Ourselves, and Our Society Thrive

A helpful book for all, but especially those of us who have trouble processing emotions. It offers some terrific insights to the importance of being aware of our emotions and how to identify, process, and act on those emotions in healthy ways.

3. The Death of Expertise: The Campaign Against Established Knowledge and Why It Matters

Maybe the most relevant book of the year, it offers a sharp rebuke of self-made “experts” and the false confidence that MY opinion is right and everyone on social media needs to agree with me.

4. Automatic Millionaire: A Powerful One-Step Plan to Live and Finish Rich

The majority of pastors are in financial crisis and this book teaches a simple strategy for stewarding your money well and gives hope to everyday people that they can build a strong financial future for their families.

5. If You Tell: A True Story of Murder, Family Secrets, and the Unbreakable Bond of Sisterhood

A tragic story of an abusive mother and the childhood no one should have to endure. This true story serves as a reminder that evil exists, and you never know who is experiencing the worst of it.
